Symptoms

The child lives in his own world, avoids cuddling and any eye contact, is a slow developer, and engages in repetitive movements, the most common being body rocking.

Cause

This is a state of withdrawal from any contact. It is a condition that affects about one in every 3,000 children, boys more often than girls, and appears during the first three years of life.
